IETE, The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers was founded in 1953 in India. One of the recognised professional societies, It leads in its devotion to the advancement of Electronics, Telecommunication & information technology. Serving more than 70,000 members through 58 various centers, spread all over India and abroad, the Institution provides leadership in Scientific and Technical areas which are of direct importance to the national development and economy. It has also been recognised as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization by the Government of India which has also notified it as an educational Institution of national eminence. The IETE conducts and sponsors technical meetings, conferences, symposia, and exhibitions all over India and publishes technical journals with the main objective of focusing on advancing electro-technology. It also provides continuing education as well as career advancement opportunities to its members.

IETE Visakhapatnam Centre was established as a sub centre in 1987 and was later elevated to the status of a full fledged centre in 1999. Since its inception, this centre has been conducting seminars, exhibitions, workshops and coaching classes to Grad IETE and DIPIETE students. It has many student forums associated with it. The centre has about 220 corporate members and 600 student members. The centre is putting a lot of effort to increase the strength of its corporate members and number of student forums. The members of the executive body and corporate members are working together to bring the centre to greater heights. In the near future, the centre would bring revolutionary changes for its implementation in real life applications which will have impact on the societal changes.
